Joe was introduced to the jewelry business at the age of 11 when he began working on Jewelers Row in Philadelphia for his brother, Salvatore Sermania. In 1981, Joe opened his own business on Jewelers Row where he did work for local jewelry businesses. In 2004, Joe and his wife Janice purchased what is now Sermania Jewelry on East Passyunk Avenue. It’s here that you can find Joe working on custom pieces, repairs, and restorations six days a week.
Janice has been active in the jewelry business since Joe started his own business in 1981. When her and Joe’s three children were young, Janice would string pearls and beads from their kitchen table while the kids were at school. Nowadays, you can find her at the store taking pictures, updating social media, helping customers find the perfect piece, or taking care of the many other daily responsibilities of running a business.
Amelia has been a part of Team Sermania since her youth. She is an integral part of business operations, helping at the counter with repair intakes, and advising customers on purchases. Amelia also exhibits immense patience while teaching her mom how to post pictures on social media.
